Hi Pratyush,

You’re absolutely correct, there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. You can often remove these “trouble” words completely (like you suggested). And, while that is definitely better, it’s not always doing as much as you can.

If you’re worried about sounding arrogant, try something like “I trust you will find that my background, experiences, and cultural upbringing will…” This alleviates any concern of arrogance in my opinion.

However, remember that each instance where you can use the subconscious framing technique is unique. There is no simple rule we can use for everything, rather things should be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

I hope that helps!

However, “I know” sounds a bit arrogant. Are there any polite alternatives for it?

I simply remove the “feel/believe/think” words. Example:

“I feel that I have the skills and experience to…” into
“I have the skills and experience to…”

“I believe that my background, experiences, and cultural upbringing would…” into
“My background, experiences, and cultural upbringing will…”

Is it a right thing to do?

Hey Gargory, I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I scoured the Internet trying to find a name for the concept, but finally gave up and gave it one myself. Regarding a more comprehensive list of words, I’ll put something on our blog schedule to address that. Right now, we’re striving to create one great piece of content each month. Once we have more capacity, we’ll be publishing more.

However, I keep finding myself typing words like “if,” “believe,” and so on, without many proper alternatives. Is there, or could you form, a list of better alternative words and phrases for this purpose?
