Hi Mackenzie! Luckily you’ve chosen and argument with very little resistance (at least in the U.S.) so it won’t be that hard to convince your audience :). I would suggest writing something like, “Customers should always tip when eating in a restaurant because most waitstaff depend on tips to make a living wage, because tips are already factored into how much waitstaff are paid, and because it is the polite thing to do.” Of course, these are just some possible examples — you might already have some ideas of the three reasons you think people should tip, and you can put those in there instead. If this is supposed to be backed with research, you might want to talk about how waitressing is a very common career for single mothers who need flexible jobs or that many states make waitstaff exempt from mandatory minimum wage jobs. In some types of papers, like an informational paper or a philosophy paper, students are asked to write a thesis that is structure like this: “In this paper, I will discuss…” and then list the items they’re going to talk about. This style of thesis is rarely used, but is one you could use here after you tell the reader all of your information then you should find out from the person writing the body conclusion the main points they are discussion and write something like, “This paper will review how e-learning can be used to (point 1), (point 2), and (point 3).” You cannot write a thesis without knowing what’s in the body of your paper, so you might need to write this sentence with your other group members to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I’m still having a little trouble understanding what you’re trying to convey here, but it sounds like you’re doing an argumentative paper in support of e-learning. In that case, I would suggest writing a thesis statement like this: “E-learning is a powerful tool that should be included in the general curriculum because it (point 1), (point 2), and (point 3).” If you’re writing a compare and contrast paper between e-learning and traditional learning, you would want to write something like: “While many school districts still opt for traditional classroom education, e-learning has become a powerful tool that will revolutionize the way we deliver education in the future.”
