What has always worked for me is to use the following formula for a thesis (using your example): “Feminism is beneficial to society, communities, and politics because ____, ____, and ____.” With each reason filling in the blanks. You might consider use one reason for how it benefits society, one for how it benefits communities, and one for how it benefits politics. This way, your friend will be able to note the key areas that feminism helps with reasons why, and your friend will be able to highlight the main points that will be explained in the body of the essay. Hope this helps!

You’re on the right track! This is an argumentative essay, so you need to have an argument for or against the issue. So a thesis for media might read, “Mass media should be allowed to operate without constraints because it is a powerful source of communication in our society.” A thesis against media might read, “Mass media needs more limits to keep it from being too powerful as a source of communication in our society.” Remember, a thesis is an argument or a hypothesis, not a fact, which means you need to prove it. What you’ve listed is a fact. So take that information and decide what you want to argue :).
