Hi Shanii! A thesis statement really spells out what you’re going to discuss in your paper and can set the tone for your argument. Without knowing what type of paper you’re writing (e.g., argumentative, persuasive, research, etc.) and your major arguments, I cannot give you a whole lot to go on, but you might write something like, “A pervasive problem in our rapidly aging society, ageism is an issue because [reason 1], [reason 2], and [reason 3].” Obviously this is quite basic and does not reflect the nuance of your specific assignment, but you can see that it sets up the reader for what they’ll be reading about in the rest of the paper.
